In the middle of last year, I made the decision that I was going to propose to my girlfriend. I have been with my girlfriend for just a little less than three and a half years, and I can say without hesitation that she is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Being with her makes me feel complete, and she has also been able to help me find purpose and direction in my life.

While I made that decision last year, I also decided that I was not going to propose until February of this year. Although our relationship has remained strong, she was personally going through some hard situations, so I decided that it would be best for me to wait. However, now that 2009 is here, the time when I can propose is just around the corner.

Because I have been so excited about this proposal, I actually bought her a marquise diamond engagement ring a couple of months ago. I sneak a peek at this ring almost every night, and I know that it is something that she is absolutely going to love once I give it to her.
